Our wines

At Piližota Winery, we craft wines that faithfully reflect the character of Dalmatia and the Šibenik region. Our focus is on indigenous wines, created with deep respect for craftsmanship, land and tradition.
Our vineyards, located in the surroundings of Šibenik on stony Dalmatian soils and under the influence of the sea and sun, give our wines their distinctive freshness and authenticity. Babić and Plavina form the foundation of our production.
Our flagship wine is the premium Babić, distinguished by its strong structure and pronounced, unique varietal character, while Plavina is primarily produced as a quality wine - approachable, well-balanced and enjoyable for everyday drinking.
All our wines carry the PDO designation (Protected Designation of Origin), the highest level of protection, guaranteeing origin, tradition and grape variety. They are produced naturally, using environmentally friendly practices and are suitable for vegan consumers.
Our wines are produced for international markets and feature distinctive labels. Wines bearing the USA designation are also available for the EU market.

Babić Piližota Dalmacija

For many centuries the Babić grape has been cherished throughout Croatia, particularly here on the outskirts of two small ancient and picturesque towns called Šibenik and Primošten. It is here, intertwined between the numerous enchanting microclimates that the Šibenik region is known for, where our family has been proudly making wine for many years! Our hand-picked, smallproduction Babić has always been a classic-styled wine, so that it stands as a proud testament to the previous generations that nurtured it. It is our family's most honest attempt to simply bottle the truest essence and expression of our Dalmatian coastline and Croatian heritage.

Our Babić Reserve comes from our most prestigious vineyard locations on the stunning Northern Dalmatian coast in Croatia, where the northern cool "bura" winds are thd constantly mingling with the dry, warm Mediterranean sea breezes. It is at this microclimate where our best Babić is grown and made. Our family has always been fond of Babić's honesty in representing its microclimate, and when treated properly, the results are always stellar. Babić has always been one of Croatia's gentle-giant red varietals, and we think that that this wine is a perfect example of that! Our family is very proud to offer you this very small-production wine, as it is the best Babić that our land has to offer.

Plavina Piližota Dalmacija

Plavina is without a doubt Croatia's most underrated coastal red grape! It is oftentimes in the shadows of better-known varietals Plavac Mali and Babić, yet, along with its rich history.y, PlPlavina certainly has its own place and offers completely different characteristics from other Croatian coastal reds. Plavina is a bit fresher. softer, brighter, more restrained and elegant, so much so that one would never quess that it comes from a warmer climate on the rocky soils located right in front of the pristine Adriatic Sea! With all of the grapes strictly hand-picked, and the resulting wine given only a coarse filtration, we are proud to say that our family's Plavina has really expressed its authentic Dalmatian characteristics: lively acidity, fresh red berries and fruit, a solid tannin structure, and a hint of chocolate, with constant undertones of Dalmatian earthiness. Our family offers you this traditionally hand-made Plavina to pair with a variety of dishes and, of course, in good company!

Plavina Reserve Piližota Šibenik

The best wines of the Plavina sort are the confirmation of perseverance and hardwork of the Šibenik winegrowers. The grapes are cultivated in traditional vineyards with fewer grapes per vine. However, they are handpicked and this type of work gives cleaner, heartier and more elegant wine of dark ruby red colour, ripe tannins and a harmonious berry aromas. Plavina Reserve is our family’s genuine contribution to the old tradition and we proudly offer our wine as the best that this precious indigenous sort can give.

Syrah Piližota

Lately, world known grapevines have been cultivated in Dalmatia and one of the best is Syrah. Its cultivation has become a big challenge, but the desire to achieve the same quality as other well-known wines, led our family to new creations. Our Syrah is a combination of indigenous Dalmatian sorts Plavina and Babić, which results in a new, authentic wine of dark ruby colour and a purple hue, with fresh and harmonious aroma and soft tannins with harmonious berry aromas.

Lately, world known grapevines have been cultivated in Dalmatia and one of the best is Merlot. Its cultivation has become a big challenge, but the desire to achieve the same quality as other well-known wines, led our family to new creations. Our Merlot is a combination of indigenous Dalmatian sorts Plavina and Babić, which results in a new, authentic, harmonious and full-body wine of dark ruby red colour and soft tannins with harmonious berry aromas.
